Why Astrology?

It is with the most profound serendipity that I answer this question on this day @ 6:28 am, Taurus rising. Today December 8th, 2009 is the day of Abandon. Which is the basis for an even greater theme. However in answering the question, Why Astrology? It is the days meditation that focuses my thoughts.
“ The soul must be freed, whatever the cost”. this meditation exemplifies why I became an Astrologist. When I was younger, I toyed with the idea of becoming a psychologist. I wanted to know why people did what they did. What phobias or schisms they suffered from and the like.

After a while it occurred to me, that by the time a client got to me, the damage was already done. To “fix” them would require great effort on my part and on the part of the patient who is hard pressed to self-diagnoses and treat. In fact the term patient already seemed distasteful to me. Subsequently I knew drugs would have to control a damaged spirit, where meditation should suffice. I however grew up in the bush (Panama) and was more holistic (shamanistic) than modern practices. I fully subscribe to the notion, “ an ounce of prevention, is better than a pound of cure”.

So instead of psychology , I picked engineering as a career path. Believing that the invention of things would bring me greater satisfaction. Beside people were too duplicitous, saying one thing and doing another. No value in the stock, bad investment (of time).

After reaching the age of Independence with my studies on track. I had yet other obstacles, a social life. I needed help. To the rescue I discovered in B&N, “ The secret Language, of Birthdays” in the Astrology section. I slowly became a student of Astrology.

At first like any real science I approached it with a sense of skepticism, looking for flaws in the logic. I used myself as a barometer, knowing that I always knew my own truth. Well it passed. I used it as a measurement against those that I knew and dated. It passed as well. It was fun and helped when I needed to “break the Ice” with a new date.

Later I put astrology to a more practical use, to what amounts to the practice of Soul Mapping, the art of mindfulness, At first I didn’t know that was what I was doing. It just started with a question. Why did I fail at..? What, I failed at wasn’t really the point, the objective was, what within my personality caused me to fail at that particular thing. For if I didn’t get to the root of the problem, then weed it out, surely it would cause me to fail at any other endeavor that I encountered. I’m tired of failing. Astrology was invaluable help in that recognition process.

To map one’s soul, to be mindful. Takes ardent vigilance, brutal honesty, plodding will power and the most extreme patience. with one’s self.

When all these components are up and running then thoughts begin to crystalize within your mind and a light is turned on, leading down a path. I will take courage and faith to walk the path, for the path is yours and yours alone. Frightening..not so much. But it does require one to constantly look at the “Man in the mirror”. Sadly many are afraid to look at their own flaws, they are rife you know.

“A man has many skins in himself, covering the depths of his heart. Man knows so many things; he does not know himself. Why, thirty or forty skins or hides (years), just like an ox’s or a bear’s, so thick and hard, cover the soul. Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there”. (Eckhart)

It took me twenty years to know myself. It took another twenty years to know how to apply myself to the collective consciousness. I credit astrology, the psychology of the Universe, for setting my Sol free. Allowing me to see the face of God.

Astrology has allowed me the tools that I need to start a business without being stressed. Knowing that “strength of vision is important, but so is the ability to see things as they really are”. The Day of Confidence.

Astrology has taught me to embrace all of me, especially the flaws for they help define us (Divine US). Our flaws keep us in touch with our humanity and teaches compassion for one another. Altruism, Love.

For Love hath reason, that Reason doth not know.
God rests in Reason.
God moves in Passion.

All Saints - Enjoy the Go!

Today is All Saint's Day it is the root of the trinity of honored days. The most famous being "All Hollows Eve" , the least of which being "All Soul's Day. It always happen in threes. All Saint's Day is meant to honor saints both known and unknown.Saints are to be venerated worthy of imitation to help one succeed in becoming a better person.

I have a saint as my middle name, Saint Christopher , his spirit runs true in my soul, the Traveler. Saint Christopher was true to himself. As a result he was a happy man. Saint Christopher truly "Enjoyed the Go", he was free.

It has been eight years to the day when I, Feroz cut my crown of locks off after eight years of growth. I was working down as a relief worker at the World Trade Center site. I had been working there four days after the destruction of the Towers. My normally gay demeanor was being usurped by the prevailing grief of the times. So on November 1,2001 I cut my locks and submerged myself into the national grief. I felt like a lamb to slaughter.

November 1st is The Day of Onslaught and true to it's title I was besieged with the grief of those that were lost. Besieged with the grief of the loved ones left behind. Besieged with the pain that was inflicted upon the Heart of this nation. A stab at our national freedom. I was not Enjoying the go. I was in the midst of the Hurricane a category 5, my very existence was in jeopardy. Our national spirit was in jeopardy.

So I called upon my training that I received in the Marine Corps. Breathe, don't panic. When all around you is falling apart. When an ocean of turbulent emotional events are approaching the precipice, leading to Hell's chasm. Keep the days meditation in mind,"The stillest part of the Hurricane is it's Center". Keep that in mind as you plummet over the falls, so that Peace is at home within your heart.

After the wake of 9/11, after picking up the many broken pieces and soothing the many stricken hearts. Despair has settled into the heart of this nation again, as we face the worst recession since Roosevelt. Once again the nations people are stricken with grief. Once again darkness is the prevailing pall seeding the atmosphere. What now?

Well, it takes a brave soul to volunteer and become the light. Am I distressed? No. Am I somber? No. Am I frightened about the future? No, I am Enjoying the Go. I am sitting above the dark clouds beneath, on the Rainbow of Faith. Enjoying the grace, "In God We Trust". It's on every piece of currency that is in every pocket of every citizen across this great nation. In God we trust, aren't just words it's the ethos of this nation. It is the manifesto that is embedded into the spirit of my generation.

Generation X , we the born Flower children embracing the spirit of '69. The spirit of freedom. That freedom from the paralysis of worry and fear. Why, because we hold the Key to Peace and Happiness. No need to worry. In God We Trust.

So on November 5th, Fabutron in concert with Charmin will be "Enjoying the Go". Embracing the spirit of America, freedom.
What recession?
To a Taurus, it's always a Bull Market.
So embrace the Saints, and like Saint Christopher, you too can Enjoy the Go.
Vaya con Dios.

Woodstock , Happy 40th Birthday

Happy 40th Birthday Woodstock. I say birthday because on those historic three days in August of '69 the spirit of a new generation was born. Some of those children born would be infused with the spirit , some merely colored by it but all would be a testament to the freedom of the era.

I am such a child. Born in May of '69 it would take 36 years before the spirit of the Artist would take hold. The spirit of living life authentically, unhampered by expectations. Unfettered by dogma and preconceptions. Of maturing yet being able to let the child within lead the way,"a child shall lead them". To let innocence rule and not the cynicism of " growing up ".

The flower children unintentionally, guided only by spirit were forging ahead to that undiscovered country of peace, love and spiritual fulfillment that was foreign to the generation that they were leaving behind. But would resonate into generations to come starting with my own, Generation X.

Despite the previous decade of civil unrest, the unsavory taste of war, the fiscal downturn and the lack of political leadership. They banded together thru the gift of art to bring the light. A lesson the country still hasn't learned well enough as throughout the nation art programs in school have been essentially deemed unneccesary. Art the gift to mankind. The gift that moves the soul.

Many have tried to recreate the event. Many have failed. Woodstock can be best compared to chicken soup. Easy enuff to recreate, but remembering that each bowl has it's own essence. And like at the country fair the bowl that has the best kick wins the blue ribbon. In thier attempt to recreate Woodstock they forgot it's essence. I would dare say that avarice made the decisions. They didn't know light the candle, ring the bell, open the book. They didn't know magic and the spirit that it calls forth.

It was magic that called forth the spirit of Woodstock '69. A magic that an astrologer knows intimately. Astrology at the time was the undercurrent within the flower child / hippie culture. Case and point the song at the time was "Aquarius, let the sun shine". Now before one starts to think of magic as the hocus pocus of lore , let me derail you immediately. I'm speaking of the magic of the spirit. We as a people speak of spirit but do not , KNOW spirit. We say," his spirit is broken", " she was moved by the spirit", " his spirit has left him".

But do you " remember the spirit " , specifically yours. Do you live " true to the spirit ". To many the spirit is simply too foriegn a concept to fathom. Akin to the metaphysical , calculus, nuclear physics and lumped into the category of " too much to wrap my brain around". When you think of spirit, harmony should come to mind. Harmony is associated with peace, "Rest in the spirit".

It was this harmony of spirit that allowed a generation to be loose. " Let it all hang loose". To go with the flow even though the event was " poorly" planned. They went there with the idea of fellowship, botherhood , Robin and all his merry men. Knowing that the journey was more important than the destination.

It is imperative that the Generations to come are taught the value of remembering thier spirit. To know though we may all walk upon the same road. That there are some paths each man Must walk alone. Be true to your Ptah / path. Then perhaps this nation will start to understand it's true wealth is in it's people.

Peace, love and happiness I call upon the spirit of '69 to usher in a new age. May the Golden years of Woodstock be a gateway to the prosperity of enlightenment to the spirit. One Love.
